Autumn Brings Welcome News About SCE Bills
Good news! Southern California Edison’s residential and small business customers will receive the second of two annual California Climate Credits on their October billing statements. This year’s first credit appeared on customer bills in March. This year, each of the two credits is $71, totaling a $142 rebate over the course of 2023 for each eligible SCE customer.
Funding for the California Climate Credit comes from the state’s Greenhouse Gas Cap and Trade Program, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, natural gas distributors and other large industries.
In addition, winter season rates begin October 1 for SCE’s Time-of-Use (TOU) customers, including residential “Super Off-Peak” rates between 8 a.m. and 4 or 5 p.m. (depending on the rate plan) through May 31.
Climate change, including California’s ongoing drought, has made wildfires a year-round concern. One-quarter of SCE’s service area is now in a high fire risk area, making wildfire mitigation one of our top priorities. SCE has invested in improvements and technology to help us prevent wildfires and respond quickly to them when they do happen.
